Should I Wait Around for Him?

Dear Advice Girl,

I've been talking to this guy for a while and I found out he likes me. But there's one problem...he has a girlfriend! He says that if they break up, he'll go out with me, but he wants to see if it will work out between them first. Should I wait around or what? Help!

Dear So Lost,

Don't you dare wait around for him! Here's why:

• If he decides to stay with his girlfriend, you will have just spent a million hours freaking out and biting your fingernails when you would've been much better off using that time to get over him.
  
  
• If he decides to ditch his girlfriend and ask you out, you can still say yes if you want. But who knows - maybe between then and now you'll have met a guy who's even better. So don't take yourself off the market.
  
  
• If he knows you're not gonna wait by the phone for him, it might push him to choose between you and his girlfriend more quickly.
  
  
• And the biggest reason: if he doesn’t think you're special enough to be his hands-down, one-and-only girl, then you shouldn't treat him like he's special enough to keep you holding your breath.
