Does my ex still love me?

Dear Advice Girl,

My boyfriend just broke up with me. A couple days later, I saw him at band practice. I was talking to this other guy, and every time I laughed or started having fun, my ex jumped into the conversation, telling a joke, or showing off his dance moves. I think he’s jealous of the other guy.

By the way, I still really like him. But does he still like me?

Dear Dana,

Just ‘cause your bf broke up with you, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t like you anymore. Feelings don’t just turn off like a faucet. People can go on liking their exes for a long time, even if they’re the ones who did the dumping.

But here’s the twist: even if he likes you, he might not want to date you again. Getting jealous of some guy is one thing, but taking you back is totally another.

But hey, if you still like him, you’ve got nothing to lose by asking him back out. (Though I kinda think you should go for that other guy. Sounds like you get along pretty great.)
