I had a weird dream about my ex!

Dear Advice Girl,

Last night when I went to sleep, I had a dream. At first there were lots of people around me, including my ex-boyfriend. Then it went blank, everyone disappeared except him. He walked up to me and gave me a kiss, and then I woke up feeling depressed. I still love him, but is this normal?

Dear Confused and Depressed,

Is it normal? I don’t know. That depends on whether or not you think “normal” is any way to describe a dream, ever. Last night I had a dream about riding in a school bus with a talking cat. Is that normal?

The point is, dude, dreams are weird. All they mean is that your brain's emptying out the garbage stuck inside your subconscious and laying it all out in front of you. You can’t read into dreams, and you’d be foolish to do anything in real life based on one of them.

The fact that your ex-boyfriend kissed you in your dream – and the way you felt when you woke up – tell me that you must miss him a lot. But does it mean anything else? Like about how he feels about you in real life, or what might happen in the future? Nah. Keep dreaming. (Har har har.)
