5 Dumb Reasons to Break Up With Him

Should I break up with my boyfriend? Or am I doing it for all the wrong reasons?

Dear Danika,

I've already told you all the good reasons to break up with your boyfriend, which pretty much includes everything. But there are some bad reasons, too:

1. You're just trying to make him mad, or make him jealous, or make him like you more. That's just a silly game that proves you're not mature enough even to have a boyfriend.
   
   
2. You got into a fight. Fighting part of dating. (Verbal fighting, that is. If it gets physical, get help.) If you can get through it calmly and reach a solution that you can both live with, then it's a reason to stay together, not to break up.
   
   
3. His friend or ex-girlfriend wants you to break up. Talk to your guy about it - and if you're getting bullied, get help from an adult. But don't let anyone get their way just 'cause they're a jerk.
   
   
4. You have a little crush on someone else. Wait it out and see if it develops into a big crush. There's a good chance it might just fade away.
   
   
5. You like different stuff than he likes. You don't have to spend every waking minute with your guy. Quit freaking out that you don't like his video games or band or whatever and hang out with your friend that night.
