Does my hot emo boy like me back??

Dear Advice Girl,

I really like this guy I met at the beginning of first semester.

But I’m not the kind of girl that he would want to go out with. He hangs out with the “emo” people and he’s really really into music.

He called me once asking me to hang out, but he sort of mumbled it...I wasn’t sure if it was because he likes me. He flirts with me and we text each other all the time. I don’t know if I should tell him because that may destroy our friendship. Should I put everything aside and ask him anyway?

He called you up to ask you to hang out, and he mumbled it? You’re golden. If a guy gets all nervous when he’s trying to make plans with you, he’s gotta be crushing. And on top of that, you’ve only known each other a couple of months – so even if something goes horribly wrong, you won’t be sacrificing your oldest and dearest friendship or anything. You have my full blessing to go ahead and snag your guy.

A word of warning, though: emo guys tend to be a little on the, um, shy side. Expect to do a lot of the grunt work at the beginning, like asking him out and planting the first kiss. But once he gets a little more comfy with you, you guys’ll be sharing pants and eyeliner in no time.
