I'm Too Shy To Talk To My Crush!

Dear Advice Girl,

I like this guy, but I'm way too shy to talk to him, and if I leave a message I'm scared he won't reply, and I don't want his friends to make fun of me. Should I just talk to him? Or forget him?

Dear Lydia,

Shy or not, if you really like him then you owe it to yourself to give yourself a chance - even if it means stepping outside your comfort zone.

You don't have to do anything huge. Just take a flirting baby step, like saying hey, or asking him a question, or leaving a comment on one of his Facebook status updates. The goal isn't to score a date (yet) but to make a little bit of contact and see if he plays along.

If he does, great. If not, you've gotten in some practice for the next time you want to flirt.

the best way to go is to just talk in person! See if you two have any mutual friends then ask one of them to casually introduce him to you! Trust me, guys LOVE to talk about themselves so just ask questions and add your thoughts too (but not too many questions or you'll get annoying)

I hav found that just randomly saying things to crushes (such as: omg that soccer team are brill! or:your t-shirt is well cool! or whatever) helps to "break the ice" and leads to conversation, which will allow you to get to know him better. Then, you can either wait for him to make the first move, or ask for his number, or whatever you want to do next! Hope this helps!
