I'm Too Shy To Talk To My Crush!

Dear Advice Girl,

I like this guy, but I'm way too shy to talk to him, and if I leave a message I'm scared he won't reply, and I don't want his friends to make fun of me. Should I just talk to him? Or forget him?

Dear Lydia,

Shy or not, if you really like him then you owe it to yourself to give yourself a chance - even if it means stepping outside your comfort zone.

You don't have to do anything huge. Just take a flirting baby step, like saying hey, or asking him a question, or leaving a comment on one of his Facebook status updates. The goal isn't to score a date (yet) but to make a little bit of contact and see if he plays along.

If he does, great. If not, you've gotten in some practice for the next time you want to flirt.

DO NOT For what ever reason write him love notes! I did and it makes everything weird for you and for him! Just try to talk to him in the hallway at school. Be like "Nice shoes," or "Oh, that's a good book," may be silly, but it's a start!
