She said she just wants to be friends!

Dear Advice Girl,

I told a girl that I like her. I said that she was a sweet and caring girl and I wanted to know if she liked me back. She told me that I was a sweet guy too, and any girl would be lucky to have me, but she just wants to stay friends right now because she has a lot on her mind and she’s going through a lot.

If a girl say that she just wants to “stay friends,” is that a nice way of turning you down, or does it really mean that she wants to stay friends until she gets things straightened out?

honestly, i dont think this is a nice way to turn you down in ALL cases. Ive said this to many guys i did like. I really liked these guys, but i really did have a lot on my mind and i didnt want him to feel less important then my other things on my mind so it was really a matter of not wanting to hurt him or get hurt.

It could be a nice way of turning u down, but when she said that she has a lot on her mind...that might very well be the truth. Give it a little time...but w/e u do, dont completely revolve your life around this one girl. See what else is out there...who knows maybe while your waiting for this girl to make up her mind ... youll find someone just as great. If in the long run u do find out that it was a nice way of her turning u down...dont let it stop u from continueing the game.
