Ew! My Boyfriend's Been Smoking!

Dear Advice Girl,

When my boyfriend and I first started dating a year ago, he used to smoke. I asked him to stop and he did. But lately he's been coming over to my house smelling of smoke.

I don't want to accuse him of lying, but I want to know if he's smoking or not. What should I do?

Dear Worried GF,

Why do girls always think they have to tiptoe around their guys? Boyfriends might be cute and make your heart flutter, but they're just people. If your sister smelled like smoke, wouldn't you call her out on it?

Have a convo with your guy about the Marlboro cologne he's been pouring on lately. Give him a chance to explain himself and (hopefully) to apologize for lying to you.

(Unless his family just moved to the back room of a dive bar, he has been lying to you.)

After that, your next move is up to you. If you can stand to kiss a smoker, then you're allowed to forgive him. But if smoking is a total deal-breaker for you (like it is for lots of people), then break up with him.

Wait, you can't accuse HIM of smoking, unless you know for a fact his parents don't. If his parents smoke, then his whole house will reek with the smell. Just ask him about it, if he IS still smoking, then he totally lied to you; if you hate smokers (as do I), then it's time to get rid of him.

theres a problem with this because people with addictions are hard to convince to not satisfy those addictions im a smoker myself and almost evey girl ive been with hasnt really made it that big of a deal except for the girls ive dated who did smoke problem is when thay would try and get me to quit theyd come at it from an agessive angle like if u dont quit im gonna break up with u i would always tell em to end it at that point if thats really what they wanted and they useally would drive me away i felt overcontroled so if hes gonna smoke hes gonna smoke but if he truly loves u one day he might find the will to set his habit down i had one girl who gave me the will to set it down but it ended and i took it back up agin so bacically u have to give him strength to ignor his urge thats all

Hahahahahahhaha oh my god that's dumb. If he wants to smoke, who the hell are you to judge him for it and tell him to stop. You can't control him, you aren't his mother, leave him alone. You should still love him, even if he does the terrible crime of inhaling tabacco. If something that small will come in the way of your relationship, then you shouldn't be in one.
