My BF sends me texts about my mom!

Dear Advice Girl,

My boyfriend really cares about me. But when I told him that I hated my mom, he started saying that since I don’t love my own mom then I can’t love him. Now he keeps sending me txt messages saying, “Love your mom!” I want to break up with him.

Dear Strawberry,

I’ll admit it, your boy’s obsession with your mom is a little crazy, and a sign that maybe he’s had some weird parental issues in the past. But hey, his heart’s in the right place.

How about this: instead of breaking up with him, realize that he’s right. As much as you “hate” your mom (for giving you a curfew, nitpicking about your messy room and other mom-ish stuff), you know deep down that she’s your mom, and that you love her. So tell your BF that of course he’s right, and that even though your mom can drive you nuts from time to time, nothing’s more important than family. And then apologize, and he'll apologize, and the weirdo text messages will come to an end. Doesn’t that sound nice?

Unless you don’t like him that much, and you’re just looking for an excuse to break up with him. If that's what's going on, then break up with him!
