That is a really bland response. You should go into more detail to help the girl instead of merely stating the obvious. -- Just try to imagine this girl who is too afraid to even say hello to the man trying to have a conversation with him. She is going to be blushing and overly smiling, or else trying to make up for the fact that she cannot breathe by seeming overly calm. I've been in this same situation and know. If the girl is too nervous to even speak with him, then it stems from a deeper place and not merely her fancy for him. She is not confident either because she fears rejection to much, or else is unsure if she is physically attractive enough for him. In which case to boost her confidence she should try doing somethings which make her happy, for when she is in a good mood and radiant and feeling accomplished she'll feel that it's much easier to talk to him.

that's totally fine, you don't have anything to lose! talk about mutual experiences, common intrests, whatever! but hi is definetly the way to go. of course, you don't want it to be awkward so just be yourself and see how things go.
