I rejected him, and he cried!

Dear Advice Girl,

There’s this guy at school, and I swear he is the most annoying person on the entire planet. Two years ago, I rejected him at the dance because I thought he was joking, and he cried.

But after that, he started being super mean and making fun of me, and it hurts. I tell him to stop but he never listens. I think he still likes me but I'm not sure. What should I do?

Dear Hate and Confuzzled,

There’s only one way to deal with an annoying bully who makes fun of you: ignore him. Seriously. Just pretend you didn’t hear him and then walk away. You don’t owe him anything.

As for why he’s picking on you, it doesn’t really matter. The point is, he’s being a jerk, and you have to treat him like the jerk he is. Which means, you know...read the first paragraph.

(You still want to know why he’s picking on you, don’t you? Fine. Here’s why: he’s embarrassed that you rejected him, and that he cried in front of you, and now he wants to show you how tough he is. And yes. He probably still likes you. But whatever. You don’t like him back, so that’s that.)
