advice girl
Dear Advice Girl,
Every time my friend finds out that I like someone, she goes and asks him out for me, in front of me! I love the fact that she likes to help, but it’s too much. This one time, she asked a guy out for me and he couldn’t make up his mind. So my friend gives him HER phone number to call HER when he decides. And then when I try and talk to her about it, she yells and says, “What am I doing wrong NOW!” right in front of the guy.
I’m getting tired of it, she already ticks me off about other things. What can I do to get her to stop without her yelling "SORRY I TRIED TO HELP!" in my face?!!?
Signed,
Alex
Dear Alex,
Despite what you think, your friend is not trying to be helpful with your guy situation. All she’s trying to do is create drama, and she’s using your secret crushes as an excuse to flirt with boys. (Yeah, that’s right – she’s flirting with the guys you like. Right in front of you.)
Now, I’m sure you wouldn’t be friends with her if she didn’t have loads of redeeming qualities, so by all means, stay friends with her. But quit telling her about your crushes. And when she tries to butt in anyway, tell her don’t want her help anymore – and ignore the temper tantrum that follows.
Or, you know, maybe this is the last straw in an already screwy friendship – in which case, it’s time to drop her already. Bonus: you’ll probably have a better chance of scoring your crush if she’s not lurking around.
Love,
The Advice Girl
