There's a ton of cute (and usually pretty corny) pickup lines you can find out there. Read them, vote on them, delight in their cheesiness. But do not use them on someone you actually want to pick up.

The pickup lines that actually work are the ones that don't even feel like pickup lines. They're just ways to start a convo with someone who looks cool (which, after all, is your goal here).

Instead of asking if someone's dad is a thief or whatever, try one of these:

1. Compliment them on something they're wearing. It'll get them to open up and maybe look for something compliment-worthy about you.
   
   
2. Ask them about something you know they love. For instance: if you know they're into a certain band, ask them to help you pick a song to download. They'll be happy to talk about their favorite stuff. Plus, it might convince them that you're their total soulmate.
   
   
3. Don't know what they like? Then just ask them something they probably know the answer to. It might be something about a class you're in together, or directions somewhere, or even a random trivia question that everyone knows the answer to. They'll feel like an expert and probably want to keep talking.
   
   
4. Just say hey. If you're too nervous to give a whole spiel, then at least say something. Make sure your crush knows you exist, or else this whole love affair guaranteed to go nowhere.
