I'm Addicted to Flirting Online!

Dear Advice Girl,

I'm addicted to flirting online and cybering with random ppl. I mainly do it for the laughs of what other people say back.

The problem, is my boyfriend gets very jealous. Should I tell him what my addiction is?

Dear Bootslet,

Calling something an "addiction" doesn't get you off the hook for bad behavior, Bootslet. Just admit it: you love talking to random guys online, and you don't want to stop - not even for your poor boyfriend's sake.

But you should knock it off, for three reasons:

It's a form of cheating. Even if your guy never finds out about it.
Simple, anonymous flirting is fine, but if you've been sharing personal information - even your name or email address - then you're putting yourself at risk and being a straight-up idiot.
In the history of time, no one has ever cybered and thought afterwards, "You know what? That was a really productive use of my afternoon. I really must do it again sometime."

Bad behavior online is easy to quit. If you find yourself flirting, simply close the browser and step away from the computer.

Still can't quit your habit? Then you must love it so darn much that you don't want to quit. And if that's the case, then maybe you're not ready to have a boyfriend.
