Should You Lick Your Lips Before You Kiss?

Is it good to lick your lips right before you kiss someone, or would that be too wet?

Dear Emily,

Everyone warns about icky wet kisses, but getting smooched by dry, cracked lips is just as bad.

If your lips feel a little parched leading up to the big moment, then go ahead and lick them - but try to be discreet about it, or else you'll look cheesy.

Even better: keep your lips moist all the time by staying hydrated (that means 8 cups of water every day).

And if your lips are chapped, don't leave home without some quality chapstick. It's way more effective than spit (but not nearly as much fun to swap).
