He wants to keep our hookup a secret!

Dear Advice Girl,

This kid Nick was acting like he liked me. So one Friday he came over and we made out. He asked if we could keep it a secret and I was like, “Well, if that’s what you want, I don’t want anything to be awkward.” And he said, “Me neither, I still want to be friends.”

The next Monday, I told one of my friends about it. She asked Nick, and he said it never happened. Ever since then he's been ignoring me. I don’t know if he ever liked me or if he’s just mad because I told someone.

Dear Alex,

When a guy asks you to keep a hookup a secret, it can only mean one of two things:

1. He doesn’t want his girlfriend to find out, ‘cause, you know, she’d be pissed.
2. He doesn’t want anyone to find out, ‘cause he thinks he and his reputation are too cool for you.

Now, if Nick doesn't have a gf, that leaves leaves us with option #2. Rough, huh? Don’t blame it on me – blame it on Nick. He’s the jerk who liked you enough to kiss you but not enough to actually admit to it.

Stay strong and try to forget about him. (Do I have to remind you that he’s a jerk? Jerk jerk jerk.) There’s plenty of other guys who’d love to date you, so don’t dwell on the one guy who acted like a total baby about it.

And if someone else comes along who wants to keep your kisses on the D.L.? Tell him he can kiss your front door, ‘cause that’s the closest he’ll ever get to you.
