Can I make my summer love last?

Dear Advice Girl,

I met this guy at camp and we hung out, held hands, kissed and everything, but now we never see each other and probably won’t again till next summer at camp. I can’t get him out of my head. What should I do?

Welcome to summer love. The days are long, the romance seems endless...and as soon as the weather gets cold, your love freezes over. It’s not very fair, huh?

If this guy lives near you, you can try to keep dating, but don’t expect much. Out of the context of summer camp, it’ll probably feel strained and weird. (But you never know – if it's truly meant to be, then it'll work.)

If he lives far away, then go ahead and keep in touch - but don't obsess over him. Next summer is far, far away. There's a good chance he'll find someone new by then - and you will, too.
