Is it too early to say I love you?

Dear Advice Girl,

My boyfriend and I have only been dating for one week and he's already saying I love you. This morning I said it back and I'm sure I meant it. But do you think it's too early to say it? All my friends think so.

It all depends, my dear, on how you define love. If you think love is crazy attraction, awesome conversations and thinking about each other every second of the day, then yes, you can feel love after only a week.

But personally, I think love is more than that. I think it’s about trust, surviving through rough times, and being able to have huge differences but still get along, even when things are kinda boring. That kind of love can only come after months or even years.

Your own feelings about love may change over time. But for now, if you think that what you’re feeling is love, then go ahead and shout it from the rooftops. Whatever you wanna call it, it’s an awesome feeling. Enjoy it!
