Things To Do For Valentine's Day!

Dear Advice Girl,

Do you have any ideas for romantic and sweet things to do on Valentine's Day?

Signed,
   Valerie

Dear Valerie,

Lucky for us, Valentine's Day falls on the weekend this year, which means you can plan a full day of Cupid-approved fun. If you've got a boyfriend, spend Valentine's Day together doing one of these:

  • Go ice skating and follow it up with some hot cocoa.

  • Get tickets to a play. Turn it into an excuse to dress up and act snooty.

  • Cook dinner together (don't forget to make a fabulous dessert). Once it's ready, light some candles, get cozy and dig in.

  • If you're not into cooking but your belly's still rumbling, buy a cheap fondue set and delight in how fun it is to dip stuff in chocolate.

  • Take a winter walk in the woods, along the beach, or at another pretty spot in your town. Make sure you stop along the way to have a snowball fight.

  • Check out the zoo. Since it's the winter, there won't be a crowd.

And if you're not attached, then don't spend all day pouting on the couch. Instead, get together with some friends and try one of these out:
  • Host a corny board games night. Some fun games to try: Pictionary, Taboo and Encore.

  • Have a total return-to-childhood day at an arcade or whirlyball court.

  • Splurge and go out for pedicures (or just have an at-home spa day and do each other's nails).

  • Host a movie marathon (comedies or horrors), fueled by homemade pizza and make-your-own sundaes.

  • Volunteer at a food bank or animal shelter and make all your attached friends feel guilty.

  • Hang out at an outdoor mall and cruise for cuties to flirt with. (Ditching your pals is not allowed.)

Whatever you do, remember not to take Valentine's Day too seriously. Having fun, or just kicking back and relaxing, is way more important than trying to have some perfect romantic night that won't live up to your expectations anyway.

Love,
   The Advice Girl
