What should I do when pervs talk to me?

Dear Advice Girl,

My friends, family and random strangers tell me that I'm pretty. But then some guys ask me for nudes or things like that, and it can get really annoying.

I don't mind being called "pretty," but I don't want pervs to talk to me! What should I do about it???

Dear Creeped Out,

This is an issue that lots of girls face: you want guys to think you’re hot, but not those guys. You just want them to leave you alone.

When you get unwanted attention, don’t be afraid to be rude. If it happens online, then block the guy and report him. (You don’t need to explain yourself or say good-bye.) If it happens in person, then just walk away.

If he does anything that makes you extra-uncomfortable (like if he bullies or tries to touch you), tell an adult. By "adult," I mean your mom, your neighbor or anyone else who's nearby - even that nice-looking shopper in aisle 4. You can even call the police (or at least threaten to call them) just to make it ultra-clear that his behavior's not acceptable.

Not to freak you out, but creeps are everywhere. So always carry your cell phone and don't go anywhere alone without telling someone where you're headed. (Some girls learn self-defense, which isn’t a bad idea - even if you never bust out any moves, you’ll feel safer knowing you could.)

Bottom line: be alert, and be smart. But don't quit being your awesome self just because some guys are too lame to respect you for it.
