What is eSPIN.com?

A:

eSPIN.com is a new twist on an old game. It's a quick and easy way to meet new people and find out if they want to meet you without the risk of rejection! Let's face it. Rejection is bad... rejection by someone you don't know is really bad. That's where eSPIN.com comes in. We let you express an interest in someone new. If they decide that they like you back, we let you know and you'll be able to use our Match Mail system.

Match Mail lets you to keep your personal identity a secret while you correspond with your match. Get to know them, quiz them, whatever, all without them knowing who you are in "real life." Ultimately, it's totally up to you to decide if and when you reveal your true identity.

The Quick Version:

  1. Fill out a profile & tell us who you wanna meet.
  2. Spin the freakin´ Bottle.
  3. If you like what you see, put ´em on your list.
  4. If they like what they see, they'll add you to their list.
  5. Then you match! The rest is up to you.
  6. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

How does it work?

A:

Easy. You spend a couple of minutes putting together an eSPIN.com profile that tells potential pals all about you. If you want you can add a picture (strongly recommended). Then, you tell us about the kind of person you'd like to meet. Within minutes the magical bottle combs through the profiles of other members to find someone who might just be your perfect match.

If, after reading their profile, you'd like to get to know them better all you have to do is click the "add to list& button to add them to your match list. The other user will receive a message saying you've added them to your match list.

If they come back to the site, like your profile, and decide to list you too, we let you both know and we let you guys into our Match Mail system so you can get to know each other a little better! Here's the best part your identity is kept secret for as long as you want. Your emails go through the eSPIN.com Anonymatizer where they are rendered untraceable. You control if and when you let someone know who you are in real life.

Before you do this, though, be safe and be smart. You wouldn't give your name to a stranger in the park ...don't do it online either. Here are some tips for staying safe on eSPIN:

  • If you're underage, check with your parents or guardian before using eSPIN.com®.
  • Don't give anyone your personal information (name, email address, IM, phone number, etc.).
  • Watch what you type: don't spill your guts or be overly flirtatious.
  • Check with your parents or guardian before talking to someone on the phone or agreeing to meet them in person.
  • If your parents are okay with a meeting, don't go alone and meet in a public place like a mall or coffee shop. Bring friends. The more the merrier.
  • Make sure your parents know where your going, with whom you're going with and what time you think you'll be back.
  • Don't ever get into a car with someone you don't know. Never.
  • If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, stop emailing with them, block their profile and let us know immediately by contacting us.
  • Remember: the person at the other end of your email is a stranger. Treat them like one.
  • Trust your instincts... if someone sounds too good to be true... they probably are.

A:

A login name is basically your account name. You use this, in combination with your password, to enter the eCRUSH Network. Think of it like a key that opens a door. It's also code name that identifies you to the world while on the site. Your login name should not be made up of any personally identifiable information (i.e., your name, email address, etc.). In fact, if we find user names with this information, we'll delete ´em, so save yourself the hassle.

Why shouldn't my login name include any personally identifiable information?

A:

The whole purpose of eSPIN.com is to give you the chance to meet and get to know people without them knowing who you are. So, if your handle contains any information about you, you decrease the chances that you will remain anonymous.

What is a password, and why do I need one?

A:

A password is a series of letters and numbers that are known to you alone. Your password (in combination with your user name) makes it impossible for someone else to log on to eSPIN.com and pretend to be you. Here are some general password tips:

  1. Keep your password in a safe place.
  2. Never disclose your password.
  3. Pick a password that consists of letters, numbers and symbols.
  4. Change your password frequently.

How do I change my password?

A:

Just log on using your current user name and password. Then, click on the button that says "change password". You'll be asked to enter your old password and then your new one.

What should I do if I've forgotten my password?

A:

Don't panic. Click here and you'll be taken care of.

What is a profile?

A:

Your profile is all about you... literally. It's a quick glance at who you are and what you like so other users can check you out. Some parts of your profile are public and some are private.

What's public? Your login name (the name that you use to identify yourself to other users), your picture (if you decide to post one), your general location, your education, employment and dating status and any interests that you want to share.

What information is kept private? Everything else: your name, email address, zip code, birthday, etc. We will never reveal this information to anyone, so you have full control over how and when you introduce yourself to another user.

How do I create a profile?

A:

To create a profile, you must be a member of the eCRUSH Network. You're already a member of the eCRUSH Network if you have an account at our other sites: eCRUSH or Lookup/Hookup.

If you are already an eCRUSH Network member, just use your regular login information (user name and password) to log onto eSPIN.com. You will be prompted to fill out your own profile define tell us about the kind of person you'd like to meet.

If you're not an eCRUSH Network member, just click here to sign up. We'll help you create an account - which takes less than five minutes - and help you create a profile.

If I already have an eCRUSH Network account, do I need to create a profile?

A:

Yes - otherwise no one will be able to learn anything about you and won't be able to put you on their match list. To do this, log into eSPIN.com by using your existing eCRUSH Network user name and password. You'll then be prompted to fill out a profile and presto... you're ready to spin.

How do I change something in my profile?

A:

Log on to eSPIN.com by entering your user name and password. Then, click on the "profile/pic" link in the blue navigational bar at the top. After the page loads, click the "edit/update" link next to the section you'd like to modify in your profile.

Which parts of my profile are public and can be seen by others?

A:

Your username, your picture (if you decide to post one), your general location, your education, employment, dating status and any interests that you want to share.

What information is kept private and can only be accessed or seen by me?

A:

Everything else: your name, email address, zip code, birthday, etc. We will never reveal this information to anyone so you have full control over how and when you introduce yourself to another user.

Why doesn't my profile show up when I search?

A:

We assume that you already know yourself and therefore don't need to meet yourself. If we're wrong, just create a second profile for yourself and spin for it.

How do I change my email address?

A:

To change your email address, log into www.espinthebottle.com.

On the right-hand side, in the "your profile" section, click "view/edit/update".

Choose the top Network Information section and click "edit/update". Next to your current email address, click the words "click to modify". An email edit page will open.

Enter your new email address in the field provided. We'll immediately email you a confirmation code to the new address to be sure we've got it right. Keep your eSPIN page open, and go to that email account and open the email we've just sent. Highlight/copy that code (or just jot it down).

On the eSPIN page, paste in (or type in) the code from the email. Click "submit". The page will close, and you'll see your new email address in your profile.

How do I change my eSPIN login name?

A:

I'm really sorry, but your eCRUSH.com login name is something you cannot change. That's the one way users have of contacting one another, so all logins have to stay the same.

If it's something you really hate, all I can recommend is that you close your old account and then open a new one. Be sure to save the names of people you like, so that you can find them again using the Search function.

If you decide to keep the username you have, keep in mind that when you match with someone -- meaning you both list each other -- you will be able to contact them by email in the Match Mailroom or by Instant Messaging, and then you can introduce yourself any way you like.

Can I post any photo I want?

A:

No. You can't post anything that is rude, lewd or offensive. Keep it PG-13 rated. If you post a picture of yourself all tarted out, we'll delete it. Especially if you're under 18. And no photos with your email address or any other contact info in them. Don´t give us the finger. And spit out that gum! (Okay, you can keep the gum.) We mean it. We've got our own cops out there who are looking for people who aren't playing nicely. If we catch you posting something that is not cool, we'll ban you from the site forever and you'll probably never meet anyone cool and will be doomed to a life of loneliness. It will be sad. You don't want to go down that path. Trust us. We're experts.

Does that mean all my photos have to be of me?

A:

Your primary photo the one that says "this is me" in your photo manager -- has to be a photo of you. But your other nine photos can be anything else as long as it´s not listed in the no-no´s up above.

How do I post a photo?

A:

Photos are a great way to get more attention on eSPIN.com. Follow these steps to add a picture to your profile:

  1. Log into your eSPIN.com account.
  2. Click on the "profile/pic" link in the blue navigational menu at the top of the page.

  6. You will be returned to the "upload photo" window. The name of your picture file should appear in the provided field.
  7. Enter an optional photo caption.
  8. Decide if you'd like the photo to be your primary photo.
  9. Click on the green "upload" button at the bottom of the page to upload your picture to our servers. You will see confirmation that your photo has been uploaded to our servers.
  10. Your picture will not appear in your profile until it has been approved by our photo editors.

Please note: Do not provide any personally identifiable information in your photo, such as a name or e-mail address. Your picture should only be of you and nobody else.

What should I do when I see a photo that is rude, offensive and lame?

A:

Let us know right away if you see a photo that is rude, offensive or in poor taste. Too report an inappropriate photo on eSPIN.com, simply click on the link provided below the photo in question. The inappropriate photo will then be sent to our editors to be reviewed.

Can people see who I am if I upload a photo?

A:

They won't be able to see your personal information (i.e., real name, email address, etc.). If you choose to put a picture up, they will be able to see that.

What is eSPINNING?

A:

eSPINNING is a fun and fancy word that basically means searching the database for people who meet your match criteria. It involves you pressing a button that spins the bottle and pulls up someone new every time.

How do I set my eSPIN.com match criteria?

A:

Log in to eSPIN.com with your user name and password. Once logged in, click on "match criteria" link in the blue navigational bar at the top of the page. When the page loads your existing criteria is automatically loaded. To modify it simply make the changes you'd like and click the "update" button at the bottom of the page.

Can I set my preferences so I only match with people within a certain demographic range?

A:

Just log on and click on the "match criteria" link at the top of the page. You can specify anything you'd like to search. Keep in mind, though, that the more you specify the fewer names you'll get when spinning. If you want to meet more people, you're better off keeping your criteria broad.

Can I search for a specific user?

A:

Yes you can, if you know the person's username. To search for a specific user by username, click on the search link in the blue navigational bar at the top of the page. The results will then be returned to you on that page. If you're having trouble finding someone, try typing in the first couple of letters (i.e., jak for jakehotstuff102).

Why am I not getting many people when I spin?

A:

If your match criteria are too narrow you won't get many results. To increase the number of potential matches you get when you spin, you need to broaden your match criteria. To expand you match criteria, login with your user name and password. Once logged in, click on the "match criteria" link at the top of the page, modify your criteria to include a broader selection of people, then click the "update" button at the bottom of the page. Once updated, click the "spin" link in the blue navigational menu at the top of the page to see your new matches.

What if I don't like the person who came up when I spun?

A:

Don't add the user to your match list and move on. If you never want to see that person again, click the "block profile" button above their profile and you'll never land on them again when you're spinning. The message "This user has been blocked" will appear in red at the top of the screen. Click the "spin bottle" icon to see your next potential match.

What is a match list?

A:

Your match list is divided into four sections: people you want to meet, people who want to meet you, mutual matches, and people you've blocked from contacting you. The match list is how you keep track of all the users you've got your eye on and would like to get to know better. Think of the match list as your own personal "little black book". You can find it under "matches" in the blue navigational bar at the top of the page.

How do I add someone to my match list?

A:

Easy. Just click on the button that says "add to list" located at the top of the person's profile.

How long does it take to get a mutual match?

A:

That depends on how long it takes for the person on your list to add you to their list. Different people use the site in different ways... some people do it hourly, some people daily and some people only once in a while. We do send people emails telling them that they've been added to someone's list - so chances are pretty good that once someone finds out that someone is interested in them, they will be pretty motivated to come back to eSPIN.com and do some listing of their own.

Keep in mind, though, that even if they spin and get you, they might decide not to add you to their list.

What does it mean when I get an email saying I've been added to someone's match list?

A:

It means that a user on the site thought your profile looked interesting and that they put you on their list. It doesn't mean that you two have matched (both listed each other). In order to match, you have to put them on YOUR match list too... which is a decision that's entirely up to you.

So it doesn't mean I have a match?

A:

Nope. It just means that someone out there was intrigued by your profile. Keep in mind that you can't match with someone if you don't list them.

What's the difference between getting added to someone's list and getting a mutual match?

A:

A mutual match is when two people mutually list each other on their match lists. Just listing someone (or having them list you) is no guarantee that you will match. You both have to list each other.

If I add someone to my match list, will they find out who I am?

A:

They'll find out your username, but not your real name. We'll send them an email with a link to your profile. If they decide to add you to their match list, we'll let you correspond anonymously through our Match Mail system.

If someone comes up as I spin, and I don't like them, do I have to add them to my list?

A:

Nope. Only add people to your match list who you think are worth getting to know better. If you're not interested in a profile, click the "spin bottle" icon located at the top of the profile to see your next match.

How do I take someone off my match list?

A:

To remove a user from your match list, log in to your account using your user name and password. Once logged in, click on the "matches" link at the top of the page in the blue navigational bar. This will display all your matches. To remove somebody, click the circle next to the user you would like to remove and click the "remove" button to remove them from your list.

What is a mutual match?

A:

A mutual match occurs when two people list each other on their match lists. Get it? Okay, we'll break it down further. The two key concepts here are

  1. both people and
  2. both lists and the thing that ties it all together is mutual. You both have to put each other on your match lists to get a mutual match.

How will I know when I get a match?

A:

We'll email you and let you know. It's that simple. Of course, you'll want to get the conversation rolling, so we encourage you to head over to match mail and get to know each other a bit better.

If I get a match, will that person know who I am?

A:

They'll only know the stuff about you that you've put in your profile. This is why we have Match Mail. Match Mail allows you to get to know someone without revealing your true identity. Your messages to each other will go through our own system which can only be accessed on our web site. By sending your emails through us, we make it impossible for someone to know who you are in real life.

What are notes?

A:

Notes are a way to let somebody know you're interested without putting yourself on the line. Think of it as winking at somebody from across the room.

How do I send a note?

A:

When you see somebody you'd like to send a note to, click the "send a note" icon at the top of the profile. You'll then be able to "build" a semi-custom note from our pre-fab options. Once your note is built, click the "send note" button, and we'll let that user know you're interested. When the user reads your note, they have the option to reply back and let things move on from there.

How do I see my old notes?

A:

Log in to your account using your existing user name and password. Then click on the "mail/notes" link in the blue navigational bar at the top of the screen. You'll then be taken to your inbox. Your inbox is the central location where all your match mails and notes are stored. You can read old notes, send match mails, and see all the notes and match mails you've sent to other users in this one central location.

Do both people have to list each other in order for two people to get in contact?

A:

Yes. In order for you to contact another user using our Match Mail, both users must list each other. We'll e-mail you to let you know you have a mutual match and invite you to begin a correspondence with the other user.

What is Match Mail?

A:

Match Mail is a way to communicate anonymously with a user when you have a mutual match. Unlike notes, in Match Mail you can say whatever you want. The conversation is as open and free as you would like it to be. Remember: your identity is kept secret for as long as you want. Your match mail emails go through the eSPIN.com Anonymatizer where they are rendered untraceable. You control if and when you let someone know who you are in real life.

Can I access Match Mail from my regular email program?

A:

No. The purpose of Match Mail is to make it possible for you and your match to correspond with each other without either one of you knowing any personally identifiable information about you - like your email address. Consider us your electronic note passer - who won't ever tell the recipient who exactly the message is coming from.

When click to look at my messages, I see a list of sponsors instead. What's going on?

A:

Your Note Passer (to open a Note or a Gift from someone new) and your Match Mail (to read and send private email) are eSPIN features which must be unlocked to be used. If you see that sponsor list instead of your message, it means your feature hasn't been unlocked yet. Pick one of the offers in the sponsor list, and follow the two-step directions we give you for that sponsor. When you're done, your Note Passer or Match Mail will be unlocked and you'll be able to open your message. If you run into any problems, email us and we'll help you out.

A:

User Stats include important info about yourself and other eSPINners, like how many Spin Lists you're on, how many people have seen your profile, and the last time somebody logged in. You can also keep track of how many Notes you've sent and received, and check out how long another eSPINner's been a member.

AstroMatch lets you find out if your astrological chart is in sync with that cute Spinner you're staring at.

Match Meter tells you how good a match you are with that stone fox you're drooling over -- we compare your interests and other key criteria and score you based on your compatibility. It starts at 50% because just clicking on them means you're already interested.

Match Mail lets you send private and anonymous e-mail once you've matched with somebody. We handle the mailing, so it'll stay anonymous as long as you want it to.

The RecommenDATER searches the database of users and pulls five new personalized matches with pictures each and every time you log in.

Who's List Am I On shows you everyone who's ever added you to their Match List -- if you add them to your own list, you can flirt via e-mail all you want in our private Match Mailroom.

Secret Mail Spy notifies you whenever Mail or Notes you send are read by other users. This way you at least know that they've seen your message, and can move on if they don't respond. With this unlock you also can resend unanswered Mail and Notes. Sorry, spell-checking is not included.

eSPIN IM allows you to chat with any other eSPINner currently online by sending that person an invitation. Once the other person agrees to the chat, you're good to go (so make sure you smell nice)!

Expose Yourself guarantees that 50 people will see your picture over a period of 24 to 48 hours when they spin the bottle. When your time in the spotlight is up, you'll get a list of everyone who saw your face.

Quiz Love gives you in-depth info on all the personality quizzes you and every other user have taken. You can get the scoop on how you rate versus everyone else on eSPIN, or you can just check out how you match up against the people whose profiles you're scopin'. Best of all, you get to see the last 5 users who scored the same as you on each quiz AND you can search for users based on their personality answers!

Pimp My Notes lets you bling out your eSPIN notes with colors, fonts, fancy backgrounds, and a primo virtual gift. Or you can just send your favorite hotties virtual gifts straight from their profile pages.
